Gift card regions explained: buy the right PlayStation, Xbox, Steam or Roblox card
Most gift cards only work in the country they were made for. Here is how to find your account region and pick the right PlayStation, Xbox, Steam or Roblox card.
The number one reason a gift card "doesn't work" is the region. Most digital gift cards are tied to the country of the account that redeems them. Here's how to get it right every time.
Why regions matter
Platforms like PlayStation and Xbox price their stores per country and currency. A card made for one country adds money in that currency, so it can only be redeemed on accounts registered in the same country.
Find your account region
- PlayStation: the country you chose when you created your PlayStation account. It's shown in your account settings and can't easily be changed.
- Xbox: the country or region of your Microsoft account, visible in your Microsoft account profile.
- Steam: your store country is based on where you buy from, and your wallet currency follows it. Check it in your account details.
- Roblox: check the region on the product page. When in doubt, pick the card for your account's country, or a Global one.

What if I bought the wrong region?
Once a code has been delivered it can't be taken back, because it could already have been used. Our refund policy explains this. So please check the region twice. If a code is faulty (not just the wrong region), contact support and we'll investigate with the supplier.
